Tiny House Denmark – Build 2020

We’re a young couple taking the leap and building a Tiny House Denmark!

Here is an overview of the project, Why, our Goals and the Strategy.

The Reason – Why have we chosen to build a Tiny House?

There are multiple reasons for us starting this crazy project, as we have called it many times already!

The main reason is to create the opportunity freedom. 

Freedom in the sense of : 

Minimalistic lifestyle

My wife and I would like to work towards a lifestyle where consumerism and the collection of stuff to fill out space isn’t something that happens on an autopilot setting. 

We like the feeling of making conscious decisions that determine what lifestyle we would like to live. 

Also having a home where every item is something you need and use gives us a sense of freedom and pleasure of simplicity plus reduces the negative sensation of clutter.

Items and belongings somehow become more meaningful when you know they are used and repaired when needed. This is our own experience, anyway!

Time

The freedom of time. 

Waking up someday knowing your basic needs are met, giving the opportunity and freedom to work on any project work you find valuable and worth spending time on.

We may want a period of working part-time in the future, being able to focus on other aspects of life such as kids, projects, experiences. 

Freeing up our minimum required work gives us the option of more time.

This goes well in hand with the parallel subject of the blog where Financial Independence is part of the way of accelerating the path to this freedom.

Finances

Lowering the monthly budget as much as we can reduce the size of the need for a steady income.

We might want the option to travel throughout a winter, enjoy a project-based job or take a period off work. Who knows! 

And this Tiny House lifestyle may increase the chances of making these ideas possible in the future.

And important to mention: If we love our work, we’ll, of course, carry on and use the extra income to invest and reach financial independence even faster!

Tiny House Build Goals

• Build the Tiny House from climate-friendly sustainable materials 

• Incorporate large windows to bring the outdoors into the Tiny House

• Breathable materials for a pleasant indoor climate 

• The warmth and coziness of a fireplace

• Must have a cozy sleeping loft

How? – The Strategy 

To start this off, it’s important to mention that we have no experience building a house at all. This makes the project of a Tiny House build even larger than normal. 

We have taken four months of work for this project which fits perfectly with the winter of Denmark 2019/20 where Outdoor and Watersports, specifically kitesurfing lessons is out of season as it’s too cold which is my field of work.

We have managed to find a community and specifically an individual here willing to rent out his expertise, equipment, and connections for a reasonable monthly price.

This works great for a couple like us with the interest and willpower to get through this interesting project!

There are 8 – 10 other builds right next to us and we have already used other people’s advice extensively.

An extra added bonus!

 We’re looking forward to the project and excited to get started and press on!
