Monthly Finance Update #15

July Update, 2020. 

• 53,5% savings rate, great!
• 3, 2, 1, we’ve moved!
• Tiny House has become a home.

What has happened this month?

Investments

The monthly savings rate is above 50%, which is a goal, I’m hoping to continue long in the future. 

A quieter month in the portfolio with a small decrease in value. 

A new global index fund has been added to the automatic investment platform ‘Nordnet’ which has been a hot topic the last week. A little time this month will go into researching this opportunity and reassessing my investment strategy. 

On one hand instead of investing in 3 global index funds to get broad global exposure, be able to rebalance between the 3 every 6 months; This could be done with 1 global index. 

On the other hand, I’ve been leaning towards investing in a more sustainable global index fund such as Spar Index DJSI which is a narrower global focus but supposedly has a more positive impact on how the portfolio would support the global growth in a greener way!

Tiny House Update

The Tiny House is feeling quite finished now. We now have water in the taps, water heater is working and we’re enjoying it!

We’ve been on the road since and are now in our new location. Quite an adventure moving a house in one day !

Now that we have moved it’s time to get the rainwater collection system up and running as soon as possible as this is the only source of water at the new location!
Gutters need to be put around the roof and a big 1000L container for storing the water needs to be purchased and connected to the 12V water pump.

Nothing motivates getting stuff done than necessity! 😀



Been busy as hell getting the house ready for the move and moving to our new location. Things should quieten down soon which will be nice for a change.
