Investments
The portfolio has decreased by a whopping 4,9%. What! Coronavirus thank you. Very interesting to see the coming progress in the next few weeks.
Mid-February I was looking forward to actually sharing an 10% portfolio increase for the next update due to some lovely increases on my last individual stocks. Well, that didn’t happen! Jeezz.
The few leftover individual stocks that I have I’m waiting to climb to a higher price before selling and moving over to 100% indexes.
This month is also the half yearly rebalance which I have timed being a few days after the time of year where I receive dividend payouts from all of my indexes. Exactly 1777 dkk ( 237 € ) was received on the 28. Feb this month and will be reinvested straight away a few days later.
Meaning this month instead of investing 2500 dkk ( 334 € ) I’m increasing the amount to 5500 dkk ( 736 € ) which will manage to rebalance the portfolio back to exactly my desired weighting of the three indexes.
40% – Sparindex DJSI World KL
40% – Sparindex Globale Aktier Min Ris. KL
20% – Sparindex Emerging Markets KL
More thoughts on why and how to rebalance the portfolio in another post soon to come.
This month the invested amount has come from the dividends paid out a few days ago and the normal savings account as there won’t be any income for the next few months while building the Tiny House.
This month may have been a bumpy ride but I trust my investment plan and sticking to the monthly investments in world indexes.
This passive strategy is the safest in ups and downs and performs best in the long term. Stick to the plan!
I’m glad to feel that I’m quite calm about this turbulent market movement and if it had been 20% more I’m quite sure I would feel the same and get a great market average by investing consistently every month.
But those ‘+’ days are just a little more fun than the ‘-‘, aren’t they ? 😀
The savings rate is therefor again 0. Feels kind of odd when it’s normally above 50%! Remembering to think of the bigger picture and money saved when finally living in the Tiny House.
Car
I bought a car !! Wait, what ?
The time came where it now made sense to buy a car. I’ll be working 3 days a week 220km away from where we’re living now. And after summer we’ll be moving to an area where public transport really doesn’t work as well as the capital, Copenhagen.
In a very FIRE-purchasing-way the car is second-hand, on the smaller side and I decided on a car that has won prizes for having the least maintenance overall.
A Toyota Yaris 1,0 from 2015 that has driven 100.000km. Cross fingers it’s going to be a good one!
It felt like a huge step buying this first car especially when you really don’t know that much about them besides everyone you know telling how much it costs per month to have it!
Oh shit 😀
I have a plan of trying to use this car to increase my income in extra work now possible to do and use a ride-sharing app to make a little side-income on trips I would be making anyway.
I’ll let you on how this goes in future updates.
Tiny House Update
Our Tiny house build is progressing steadily. We are impressed, stressed and excited about what we have achieved and what is to come.
Loft is finished
Our budget goal for building the Tiny House is 150.000 dkk (20.070 €).
And is slowing being used as we build. We’re at 85.000 dkk (11.375 €) spent at the moment.
Sleeping loft ready
Updates on the build from start to finish will be shared on the Facebook page.
Danish readers can join the group ‘Det Lille Potentiale, Tiny House’.
Focus next month
Our goal is throughout the next month to make it liveable which would be quite an achievement. Not to emphasize necessary as we’ve given our apartment up in Copenhagen and no longer have it! Jeez. Now it’s getting serious.
Work work work. Build build build. We are on to the interior which we find very exciting and interesting to now be able to work on as this is all the parts of the project we’ll be seeing and living in from soon on and out.
Also, a few more post is the goal next month. It’s quite stressful building every day and we’re VERY tired in the evenings 😀 But I’ll give it my best to pump some great posts out in March.
Do you have any specific topics you would like to write about? Let me know and I’ll see what I can do!
